Hello shutterfly!

Valerie here. I’m an art director with 15+ years of experience in corporate, start-up, agency and freelance settings.

I’ve been a longtime Shutterfly and TinyPrints fan!

My little family and I moved from NYC to Saint Paul last spring to be closer to family and ooooh what a year it’s been!

I’m currently the art director at a small greeting card agency–while I love the work–I’m actively looking for a position at a company with a faster pace and better culture fit.

A bit about me:

In addition to being a member of the “Two First Names Club”, I’m passionate about designing products and creating unique experiences, have an eye for details without losing sight of the big picture, value process and efficient workflow and believe there’s fun to be had in solving problems.

My peers would likely tell you that I’m an upbeat cheerLEADER and ideas machine with a collaborative spirit.

Some of my proudest moments include: building a library of art assets, helping to build a team, and defining the culture and workflow as lead designer at Bloom, partnering with MoMA and The Andy Warhol Foundation and MANY talented artists as the art director at Galison and designing pet products–dog bikinis and such–for Martha Stewart’s line at Petsmart.

Ever curious, I am always on the lookout for lost playing cards and have collected hundreds to date. I’m a big fan of Creative Mornings, have been known to use vacation time to volunteer in various capacities and have recently been hosting virtual pandemic dance parties to help keep friends and family in good spirits!

I’m happiest and most productive working with an inspired team on thoughtful and creative projects. That’s you!

This bit from the job listing really speaks to me:

Our creatives are enthusiastic and thrive in a highly collaborative, sometimes quick-turn environment. Positive vibes only.

Feel free to poke around my site and check out my pandemic friendly meet-and-greet video.

Oh!.. And Show & Tell Fridays is this thing I started as an attempt to recreate that wonderful lunch break exchange between creatives that I anticipated missing out on at my new solo-ish role without a team… Turns out, it’s not an easy thing to replicate and I really do thrive best with a crew to share ideas with!

I would love to connect and learn more
about the future of Shutterfly!

Looking forward,

Valerie Courtney
